When you write an entry what do you do?
For me it depends what I’m posting. If it’s a technical post I usually sit on it a couple of days and re-work the layout. I’ve become really conscious of quality of my posts. I would love to have people leave a comment saying “wow! that was very informative” or something along those lines. It may not happen soon but it will happen. What about you? What type of blogger are you?

Mitch, over at HarpzOn.com has an excellent post called Finding Your Feet When Blogging in which he really hits on some good topics for new and experienced bloggers.
I have had issues with trying to find content to put on this blog. The key is to find a niche to write about. It’s hard in my profession to do that simply because it feels the market is saturated with blogs about Linux and computers. For now this site will remain a mix of stuff about my daily life, my job with a few Linux and work posts.
Mitch’s posts are very well put together and address a lot of the questions I had when I started researching making money online. It’s not only a site for new bloggers but the last couple of days he’s had several articles that have given me ideas on where I might like to take my blog.
Head on over and check out HarpzOn.com. It’s been added to my list of daily reads.

Folks may have seen mention of the “Ham Pool”. This is a concept that a good friend of mine at my last job came up with. We spent many hours discussing the logistics of this and if it would be possible to do. For the full story head over Brian’s site. Long live the Ham Pool!!!!!

I’ve been able to play around with the latest version of RT at work. Currently we are using a really old version in the early 3.x series. 3.0.6 to be exact. The upgrade will bring us up to 3.6.x. So far I am very impressed with the new features and the improved searching. But when you have a database that’s 8.5GB searching anything is a chore no matter what improvements have been made…
Testing starts Thursday and I think I’ve gotten a fairly good sampling of both technical and non-technical users. I only have about 25 users in the testing group and in a company of a little over 2100 people that’s not a lot. But my co-workers are part of the test group and since we are the largest group and probably the heaviest users of RT it should be a fairly good test. I have already told everyone to download the “Refresh Every” plugin for Firefox and set it to auto refresh every 20-30 seconds. Hopefully with 25 people banging on it we can find and fix any major issues before rollout.
It’s like 3am and I’m tired and have to be back at work at 7am so I’m going to try and sleep..

So today I decided today that it was time for a new tattoo. Kate found a Japanese Kanji symbol meaning eternity. It also has the initials of both our first names so it means a couple of things to us. I found a really nice shop here in Cary called Warlocks Tattoo. They have really good artists and are extremely clean. It seems the tattoo profession is more regulated here than anywhere else i’ve lived.
And guess who else got a tattoo today??? Kate did!!!!!!!!!!. So without further adieu…The pictures!
Head over to Kate’s site to see the rest of the pics.

I do not work on copy machines/network printers. Just because it has a Hard Drive, and some circuit boards and is metal wrapped in plastic still does not mean I work on it. I work on computers…Not copy machines/network printers…If I can ping it on the network then it’s up…That’s all can do. I will do the same thing that you do if it doesn’t work…restart it…call the copy machine company to send someone out to work on it…
Again, I do not work on copy machines/network printers…carry on…

I really love this time of year. It warms up enough during the day to be really comfortable at night. When I lived in Mississippi and couldn’t sleep i’d jump on my bike and put my ipod on random and just ride. It was so relaxing to ride along the beach with no one else on the roads. After Katrina I tried to do the same thing when I moved back to Hattiesburg but it just wasn’t the same. I had to damn near ride out to where I grew up to find a place where no one was and that was just too much riding.

As of 12pm EDT Red Hat Enterprise Linux has been unleased into the wild. Not only as someone who works at Red Hat but also someone who has been using RHEL5 since Beta 1 release I am truly impressed at the overall performance and feel of RHEL5. With full Xen VIrtualization support built in this can revolutionize the way servers are setup. I have been using VMWare , which is the proprietary virtual machine company, at home and I’m really looking forward to giving Xen my full support…

Working in several high stress jobs in my life I’ve seen how people cope with different things. Like the doctor who, after a major trama, would go out and buy doughnuts and milk for everyone in the ER and then sit around for 20-30 joking about the worst trauma’s we’d ever work. When I moved back to the ambulance it was the same way. After a stressful run we would talk about how “fucked up” that guy was..Or how we were so lucky not to be him/her.
Now in the computer field it’s not life or death stressful. Althought some of our users would have you believe it’s life or death important. But the same thing happens now. Computers are easy to me. Always have been. I get frustrated with them, hell I get down right pissed off at them. But they are logical machines that do what you tell them to do. People who operate computers aren’t. This is a very high stress job simply because each user thinks their problem should be top of the list no matter what. So, yes we talk about our users. I am never unprofessional to their face and I alway give them my full attention. But when we are talking amongst ourselves we will talk about the difficult, stupid, and just plain funny calls we get.

Here are a few links to some really good blogs that I read daily. They are mostly about making money with your blog and other subjects along those lines:
John Chow.com - He made over 9k last month alone on his blog..Truly impressive.
Darren Rowse - An Aussie who blogs about making money with his blog. Very interesting read.
Shoe Money - This guy’s “shoe money” makes me sick. He has a picture of a check from Google for over 100k.
Broke Ass Student - Pretty good reading about general finance.
That’s all for today. I’ll post a few more tomorrow. If any of you come across a blog you think I’d enjoy drop it in a comment or hit the contact page..
