That’s right…Today is my 30th birthday. I’m still not sure how I feel about turning 30. Actually, I’m quite sure how I feel about it.. I don’t care to much for it! But, what can you do..I’m looking forward to another productive year both personally and professionally.

Hard to believe it’s been two years ago since Katrina changed a lot of lives including mine. Growing up in Mississippi I had always been exposed to hurricanes and had always heard stories from my family about Hurricane Camille since my parents were living on the gulf coast when it hit. There was no way that I could understand the power and destructive force that comes with a storm of that magnitude. The best way to explain what happened is to go back into the archives…So here are some posts leading up to Katrina and in the days after (once power was restored at the university).

There are a few more posts after that but those hit the heart of what happened. I didn’t blog a lot of it since it was just so damn depressing. Here are a few pics from my apt and a few from the surrounding community.
A lot has happened in the two years since Katrina. I’m in a very good place now and as much as that whole time sucked it really did lead to a lot of great things.

In Firefox 2 the default behavior is to put the “close tab” X in every tab. I hate that. I want my close button on the very end like it was in Firefox 1. To revert to the old way do the following:
- Open a new browser window/tab and in the address bar type “about:config” minus the quotes.
- Copy/Paste the following in the search line “browser.tabs.closeButtons” and click “Show All”
- You will need to put a number in there. Choose from the following behavior.
- “0″ Display a close button on the active tab only
- “1″ Display close button on all tabs (Default)
- “2″ Don’t display any close buttons
- “3″ Display a single close button at the end of the tab strip (Firefox 1.x behavior)=
I choose option 3 since that is what’s most useful to me. Further info can be found in the Mozilla Kbase.

Over at Copyblogger there is an interesting article about the roadblocks to blogging more. What Keeps You From Writing? | Copyblogger.
It’s comforting to me to think that some people share the same fears that I do about blogging. I am very nervous about posting technical things simply because I’m afraid that I’ll be wrong and some asshat out there will be a dick about it. I’m on the verge of launching a very technical website (within the next week or so) and I’m excited about it but at the same time I’m extremely nervous.
I’m trying to channel that nervousness/fear into motivation to do my best in researching my posts and making sure all the info is correct. It’s still a pretty big thing to put oneself out there like that. What does everyone thing? Are these fears based in reality or no?
