This week Kate has been home with her family in NY. The decision was made to send her home and I would stay here and watch the dog (For those who don’t know, we have a 3 month old monster German Shepard pup) since he is so young we didn’t want to kennel him as he hasn’t had all his shots yet. The Mutt and I have gotten along pretty well, but put two guys in one place and they will have disagreements…He chewed my shoes, I strongly disagreed with that..But for the most part it was a pleasure having him here.
Having Kate gone this long has made me really miss her even more than I usually do. I go to the airport in about an hour to pick her up…If nothing else told me that I love her the fact that I have butterflys in my stomach would tell it all. Not nervous butterfly’s but the “I want to go to the airport now, now, now!!!” butterfly’s. I can’t wait until I see her…

The last few days have been truly wonderful. I picked up Kate at the airport on Thursday and we were supposed to go to Plymouth NC for an interview but my truck decided we would do differently. On the way back from the airport it start running really, really hot. By the time we were supposed to get on the interstate my truck was making really bad noises and the temp was so hot the needle was buried on hot… Luckly we were really close to my apartment.
Kate was able to reschedule her interview thankfully so later that night we found an enterprise car rental and rented a chevy malibu. It actually worked out well we got up early the next morning and hit the road. Her interview as scheduled for 10:30 and we managed to get there with an hour to spare..And I thought Mississippi was country…As we were driving into town we saw a person sitting on a riding lawn mower at a red light…Kate and I both lost it… We found the place she was interviewing and while she was in the interview I saw another guy on a riding lawnmower chugging down the road….I couldn’t help but laugh out loud…
On the drive down we saw signs for an aquarium so we decided we would go in search of it. It was such a beautiful day and the drive so easy. We got to the aquarium about 1pm I think and we went in and it was really nice with a lot of healthy habitats and beautiful fish and also otters ;-). Kate was drawn to the otters and we have about 50 pictures of the otters…I must admit they were cute.. We did the cheesy tourist thing and took pictures of ourselves and bought a few souviners.
Then we hit the road again in search of a beach. About 5 miles down the road we found a sign for the Bodie Island Lighthouse. So we wheeled off to go find it…That thing was absolutly huge!! We walked around and once again did the cheesy tourist thing and took lots of pictures..A really nice guy saw us and offered to take our picture with the lighthouse as a back drop…it was beautiful there. We found a walkway that went out into the wetlands to a viewing pier. So we trotted out there and took more pictures and simply enjoyed the scenery. It was about 84 degrees with a strong wind blowing. Pretty typical beach weather.
It just so happened that the beach was right across the street from the lighthouse. So we jumped back into the car and headed across the street. All I can say is wow!! The beach was perfect it was starting to cloud up and the wind was picking up. We sat on the beach and talked and then Kate went down to the water and paddled in the surf…I watched her and took a lot of pictures of her and also the beach. We walked down quite a ways and picked up seashells and just stood there watching the waves crash in. It’s quite different that the beaches I’m used to. On the gulf coast the waves are not even waves….These were for sure real waves…
We got back to my apartment about 9pm. Kate showed me the correct way to make a tuna melt :-). We ate and started watching a movie which we didn’t make it through. Saturday, which just so happened to be Kate’s birthday, we got up and had breakfast and went to petsmart. (Random Sidenote: I really have an itch to setup another saltwater aquarium after going to the NC Aquarium). We looked at all the animals they had there, which wasn’t that many. Then we went to Lake Johnson which I pass on my way to work every morning. We walked around the lake and decided to rent a paddleboat . I can’t tell you how much fun that was. We paddled out a good ways and then just let the current and wind take us. We ended up coming in early because, well, I burn in the sun and didn’t think to bring any sunblock. But all in all we spent about 45 minutes on the water I think…It was great fun.
Then we found this little greek place and both got a snack and headed back to my apartment. We relaxed for a couple of hours and then I took her out to Olive Garden for her birthday. Our waiter was exceptional!! I know that is quite a random thing to say but if you have good service every thing just falls into place. On the way out we decided the service was good enough to talk to a manager. You could tell by the look on his face he was expecting to get bitched at or something of the kind…That was the furtherest thing from our minds. We told him what a great job out waiter did and how it really made for a wonderful experience.
After dinner we went and saw Ice Age 2. Extremely funny. It amazes me how adult “kids” movies are.
I took Kate to the airport this morning and saw her off…This weeked was unreal…I really hope Kate gets this job which will put her 2 hours from and an hour from the beach and other fun stuff…
Kate thank you for such a wonderful time…I am more thankful every single day that you are in my life. You kept me sane this weekend when my truck acted up and you made me laugh a lot :-). And just think, next time we can go get crabs at dirty dicks
I love you :-*

This, so far has been the best weekend I have ever had. I have to work this morning and Kate is still asleep so I am trying to be as quiet as possible typing this. I can’t put into words how I feel about this girl. Well, actually I can but I haven’t told her yet so how could I possibly tell all of you first ;-).
Saturday we got up and it was such a beautiful day. Sunny and mid to upper 50’s. We got up and decided to go to Wal-mart to look at ponies (don’t ask
) but to also find a movie that I want to watch with her. On the way there we stopped at a park by a lake to take some pictures and hang out. It was the most perfect ever…We went and got lunch at a place called Friendly’s which I had never heard of before. It must be a yankee thing ;-). But I was quite impressed with the food. We ate and decided to back to her place and hang out a bit before our date. We watched Rent which all I can say is wow!! Anyone who hasn’t seen it really needs to check it out. Did you know that Jesse Martin the detecive from Law and Order was in the orginal movie?? Neither did we. Awesome movie tho..
We had planned on going out to dinner and possibly seeing a movie. But we both decided that it we had eaten way to much at Friendly’s and didn’t really feel like moving. So we ended up watching Saw 2 and just talking which was perfect as far as i’m concerned.
We are currently at her parent’s house and I must say they are awesome! Her mom made us a huge turkey dinner last and I ate waaaaay to much but it was totally worth it. I really like this girl…a lot…her family is awesome, she is awesome, everything is just….well…awesome
I don’t want to go back to NC …

It is now official. Last Friday I went and interviewed with Redhat. Redhat is an opensource software company and is responsible for Redhat Linux, Redhat Enterprise Linux, and Fedora Linux.
I will be working at the internal help desk helping employees with Linux problems. This is a huge deal for me. This means I finally move out of Mississippi and I feel like I am starting a “real” job. So yea…I am going to go back to work and try and wrap my head around all this
:D
Until later

Tomorrow I am flying out for Raleigh, North Carolina. I don’t want to say what this trip is for just yet, don’t want to jinx anything. But it will be something good if everything works out. I will be back late Friday night but will have my phone with me. So if something comes up feel free to call.
I am not sure about internet. I know the hotel has wireless but I arrive in NC around 10:30pm so sleep may be higher on my list of things to do at that point…But who knows I may get on and post something when I get there…
Until later,

A good friend of mine applyed for a job and everyone told her she was going to get it, even the people that interviewed her…She worried, and worried, about it playing different scenarios of her not getting the job…
This morning I sign on instant messenger and see her away message and guess what????
SHE GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (as if there was a better choice
)
So head over to Kate’s site and leave a nice comment for her…
Congrats Kate, you deserve it ![]()
