I used to watch WWE wrestling religiously but over the last few years the story lines have gotten flat and I lost interest. This morning I read that Chris Benoit, aka “The Rabid Wolverine”, aka “Toothless Aggression” had been found dead in his home along with his wife and child in what authorities are calling a double murder-suicide. At one time not too long ago he was at the top of the WWE and seemed to have it all. Such a fall from grace. I’ll be interested to see the toxicology report when it comes out.

Ok…So a while back I said I had some big news but I wasn’t going to say anything else about it until I was for sure…Well…I’m for sure.. Kate and I started looking for a house a few months back. Just getting an idea of what we wanted. Around April 1st we found out that a house we both liked. The people that own were in a situation that they had to sell..
Soooo…We bought it!!!!
We haven’t offically signed the paperwork yet..Closing is scheduled for next Monday. On May 1st the house will be ours. Now for some stats on the house:
And now..Pictures

When you write an entry what do you do?
For me it depends what I’m posting. If it’s a technical post I usually sit on it a couple of days and re-work the layout. I’ve become really conscious of quality of my posts. I would love to have people leave a comment saying “wow! that was very informative” or something along those lines. It may not happen soon but it will happen. What about you? What type of blogger are you?

Mitch, over at HarpzOn.com has an excellent post called Finding Your Feet When Blogging in which he really hits on some good topics for new and experienced bloggers.
I have had issues with trying to find content to put on this blog. The key is to find a niche to write about. It’s hard in my profession to do that simply because it feels the market is saturated with blogs about Linux and computers. For now this site will remain a mix of stuff about my daily life, my job with a few Linux and work posts.
Mitch’s posts are very well put together and address a lot of the questions I had when I started researching making money online. It’s not only a site for new bloggers but the last couple of days he’s had several articles that have given me ideas on where I might like to take my blog.
Head on over and check out HarpzOn.com. It’s been added to my list of daily reads.

Folks may have seen mention of the “Ham Pool”. This is a concept that a good friend of mine at my last job came up with. We spent many hours discussing the logistics of this and if it would be possible to do. For the full story head over Brian’s site. Long live the Ham Pool!!!!!

I have always had in the back of my mind that I wanted to start my own business. But I’ve also had doubts in my abiltity to do that. I’ve always had a really hard time separating work from home. It’s doubly difficult now since it’s so easy for me to go home, login to my laptop and then sign on the corporate VPN.

I’m sure I’ll add to it later…That’s assuming I can get everything done that’s listed. Updating Kate’s site is going to be…interesting…We had to hack the sidebar up so much to get all the features she wanted and I can seem to locate the file I list all those changes…So yea..should be interesting..

So I am posting a link in the sidebar to my wishlist for the Jeep. I really want to start working on it again. I’ve had it now for a year and I have done much of anything that I had planned to do. I added mud lights up front, some really aggressive mud tires, 2 tow hooks, a fire extingusher and a few other things. But I really want to be able to drive with the top off more. At work we have a covered parking deck but at home I have nothing. So if I drop the top I always have to put it backup when I get home. It’s not that it’s difficult to do…I just don’t like taking it down, putting it backup, repeat.
But I digress..Here’s the direct link. My wishlist. I have marked a few things as a must have since it relates directly to me riding with the top down more often :-).

Today was the first day back to work for me since I went on vacation for 9 days. I always hate the first week back after vacation/holiday. It just seems the days are 5 hours longer and the sun just forgets it’s supposed to be moving..And work just seems to save everything for when you return..Just in one email list that is between all my co-workers (~20 people) I had 289 unread messages…One good thing is that many of my daily routines are automated..Hey I work with Linux don’t judge me! That just made me remember a saying I read or heard someone say.
“Stop bothering me or I will replace you with a very small shell script”
Anyway, I checked all my notification emails and went through and fixed any errors that came up. Since I work at a Help Desk we, of course, have a ticket tracking system. I must admit it’s been quite nice to see that I have no tickets waiting. Well that changed within one hour of me getting to work this morning. I ended the day with only 5 tickets that I couldn’t close but it felt like I closed 20 or 30 when it was probably only half that in reality.

The Good: Kool Aid now makes the Orange in single serve packets!!! I’m way more excited about that than I really should be but I love Kool Aid so get off me.
The Bad: I spent more than I wanted to..again..
And Just Plain Weird: I got home and while I was putting away groceries I found a bag with wine in it…I didn’t buy it..I didn’t even go down the wine isle..
Gotta love grocery shopping..

It seems like my vacation just started and now I’m already thinking about going back to work next week. I checked my work email and just for the mailing list my co-workers and I have between us, there are over 200 messages..*sigh*..I really dread going through and catching up. I am considering leaving a day early which would be Saturday instead of Sunday. This will give me a chance to recharge a bit and get caught up on email and other work stuff.

I made it home Saturday around 5pm. The drive was ok until I got into Alabama. The wind was unbeliveable from around Birmingham until I got to my Dad’s house, to the point I couldn’t accelerate going on flat land without down shifting. And add to the fact that my jeep isn’t the most aerodynamic vehicle on the road.
Sunday I drove out to where I grew up. I wanted to go check out the barn that I have all my stuff stored it. I wasn’t able to get up there after Katrina since the people that own the house and are leasing the land did not bushhog the field. Kate and I tried to get up there but I was afraid that my exhaust pipe would start a fire. It rained Saturday night so it was nice and mucky and since I had the jeep I dropped it into 4H and played a bit. I got up to the house and to my surprise everything was locked up and nothing, that I could tell, was missing. Inside it was in pretty bad shape tho…I could tell there were rats nesting everywhere and I saw a few snake skins as well. Most of my stuff is a total loss. Mold was covering pretty much everything else that wasn’t chewed up by the rats. I should have gotten proper storage for that stuff a long time ago.
